Rawalpindi: ANF recovers drugs worth Rs125m in 6 raids
RAWALPINDI: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF), in six operations across the country, recovered 3.9 kilograms of heroin, 500 grams of amphetamine and 40 kilograms of charas, the spokesman for the ANF Headquarters said.
The ANF also arrested 12 persons involved in drug trafficking and seized three vehicles. The value of the recovered drugs is approximately Rs125 million in the international market.
The ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team, during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, detained two passengers, identified as Ramzan and Muhammad Hashim, both residents of Khushab. During search of their luggage, 500 grams of amphetamine (ice) was recovered, which was tactfully concealed inside the packing of toothpastes. The two intended to board for Jeddah by a PIA flight (PK-724).
The ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car (MNP–7101) near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock, and recovered 30 kilograms of charas concealed in it. Charas was concealed in secret cavities of the car. Four persons on board were arrested. The arrested men included Akbar Hussain, resident of Khyber Agency, Tarab Khan, resident of Nowshera, Riaz Khan and Umer Khan, both residents of Peshawar. As per reports, they were transporting charas to Punjab.
The ANF Lahore Road Check Team intercepted a motorcycle (DGK–130) near Pull Daat Essa, Dera Ghazi Khan, and arrested two drug carriers namely Umer Shah and Muhammad Rafique, both residents of Qilla Abdullah, along with the recovery of 5 kilograms of charas from their possession. As per initial reports, they came from Balochistan to Dera Ghazi Khan for delivery of drugs to a peddler.
The ANF Lahore Airport Team, during routine checking at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, apprehended a passenger namely Tajbar Khan, resident of Mardan, after recovery of 860 grams of heroin concealed in a box of sweets. He was boarding for Jeddah by a Shaheen Airlines flight (NL-729).
The ANF Peshawar Road Check Team seized a Toyota Corolla XLI car (KX–241) near Phase–III Chowk, Hyatabad, Peshawar. On search of the vehicle, 3 kilograms of heroin were recovered concealed in secret cavities of the car. Two men on board namely Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of Khyber Agency, and Samiullah, resident of Darra Adamkhel, were arrested during the operation.
The ANF Karachi Road Check Team arrested a local drug supplier Saeen Bux, resident of Mirpurkhas at Fateh Chowk Bus Stop, Hyderabad City, after recovery of 5.22 kilograms of charas from his possession. As per initial investigation, he was involved in supply of drugs to nearby localities.
