Rahim Yar Khan: 15 hunters held with 59 deer worth Rs1.2m
RAHIM YAR KHAN: A Wildlife Department team recovered 59 hunted deer worth Rs1.2 million, and arrested 15 hunters in Cholistan.
A team including Kaleem Sarfraz, Ali Nawaz, Akhtar Hussain Abdul Ghafoor, Zaman Ajmal and Shahid Iqbal on a tip off raided Kandair area of Cholistan near Manthar Sadiqabad and arrested the 15 alleged hunters.
The Wildlife team then presented the accused with four deer in the court of Civil Judge Masood Ahmed. According to inspector Kaleem Sarfraz, the court imposed Rs30,000 fine on each accused involved in hunting otherwise they all would be sent on judicial remand.
The accused including Biaz Khan, Hadayatullah, Balawar, Ashraf, Abdur Raheem, Jamshaid, Asif, Zaneetullah, Walyaz, Falakbaz, Ibrar Ahmed, Sanaullah, Ajmeer and Gul Nawaz, residents of Laki Marwat KPK.
An accused told reporters that they hunt deer with the coordination of Wildlife employees. According some sources, the number of arrested people was more than the accused presented in the court and the others were spared due to political interference. However, District Wildlife Officer Ayub Sabir denied the allegations. Later, the hunted deer were shifted to RYK Wildlife Park.
