Arms seized at Torkham border
LANDIKOTAL: The officials foiled a bid to smuggle arms to Afghanistan and arrested an alleged gunrunner at the Torkham border checkpost late Tuesday, official sources said.
The sources said that the border authorities stopped a man identified as Ahmed Fawad, who was carrying his luggage in a handcart. On thorough search, the officials recovered four Kalashnikovs, three pistols, 3,000 cartridges, 22 magazines and 10 handcuffs concealed in his luggage. The accused was an Afghan national and shifted to the lockup for an interrogation.
