Islamabad: ANF recovers 47kg narcotics, arrests 11 drug traffickers
ISLAMABAD: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday recovered 47–kilogram (kg) narcotics and arrested 11 people, including a Philipino woman, involved in drug trafficking.
According to details, ANF conducted ten operations at various cities of the country, which resulted in recovery of 41-kg charas, 4.8–kg heroin and 960–gram cocaine. Two vehicles were also seized. The worth of recovered drugs amount approximately Rs 131 million in international market.
Rawalpindi ANF, while acting on source information, intercepted a Suzuki FX Taxi at Tramari Chowk and arrested the owner of the taxi, Ghulam Abbas, resident of Islamabad, along with 4-kg charas. As per reports, the accused was involved in supply of drugs to nearby localities.
Lahore ANF conducted a raid at a house near Chowngi No 22, Welayatabad, Multan and recovered 300-gram charas from the personal possession of a woman named Fauzia Perveen, resident of Multan.
Meanwhile, Lahore ANF intercepted a suspected shipment at Sky Net Air Cargo located at Allama Iqbal International Airport. During search of the shipment, 800–gram heroin was recovered which was concealed inside the packing of ladies shirts. As per information, shipment was destined for the United Kingdom (UK) and was booked by a woman named Musarrat Afzal, resident of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK).
In another incident, the Lahore ANF stopped a Toyota car near Sargodha Road, Khushab. Search of the car led to recovery of 2-kg heroin concealed in the gearbox of the car. The occupant of the car, Shabiul Hassan, resident of Jhelum was also arrested during the operation. After initial investigations, a drug recipient Mumtaz, resident of Sargodha was also arrested from nearby locality while riding on a motorcycle.
Lahore ANF also held three local drug peddlers in a raid conducted on a premise located in the area of Grass Mandi, Multan and recovered 5.68–kg charas and 1-kg heroin from the accused, including Muhammad Islam, Ghulam Shabir and Kamran residents of Multan.
The Lahore Airport ANF team arrested a Jeddah bound passenger, Muhammad Shahbaz, resident of Sargodha at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and recovered 1-kg heroin concealed in the bottom of his passenger bag. He intended to board on Gulf Airline Flight No. GF-0765.
On the other hand, Peshawar ANF intercepted a Suzuki pick-up near new toll plaza, Indus Highway, Kohat and recovered 13.2-kg charas from personal possession an accused Yasin Khan, resident of Khyber Agency. Reportedly, the accused is involved supply of drugs to nearby localities.
Moreover, Karachi ANF, during routine surveillance at Jinnah International Airport, arrested a suspected passenger named Salimat Khan on suspicion of heroin filled capsules. The accused intended to board for Dubai by Shaheen Airline Flight No NL–738.
Karachi ANF held a 40–year–old woman from Philippines, Marilou Cabrera at Jinnah International Airport Karachi and recovered 960–gram cocaine concealed in packing of bath soaps. The lady arrived from Abu Dhabi by Etihad Airways Flight No EY-221.
While Quetta ANF, on pursuance of an Intelligence report, apprehended two individuals from Sadabahar bus stand and recovered 18-kg charas concealed in their luggage. As per reports, the accused were to proceed for Rawalpindi.
Cases have been registered against all detainees at respective ANF police stations and further investigations are under process.
