Lahore: Police arrest 1,684 proclaimed offenders in May
LAHORE: Police claimed to have arrested 159 accused and seized cash and other valuables worth Rs 17.8 million during May.
As many as 189 cases have also been traced against those arrested, 1,684 proclaimed offenders (POs) and court absconders (CAs) were also arrested in the same period.
According to details, Operations Wing Deputy Inspector General Dr Haider Ashraf ordered police to implement National Action Plan and utilise energies to curb crime in the city and arrest the criminals involved in different unlawful activities. All divisional SPs increased their efforts and arrested 159 criminals of 66 gangs. Those arrested were involved in heinous crimes. As many as 433 POs, 1251 CAs were also arrested. Similarly, 367 cases were registered against 368 accused on having illicit weapon and police also seized 8 Kalashnikov rifles, 21 rifles, 35 guns, 287 revolvers and pistols, a carbine and 2,053 bullets from them.
