Karachi: FIA nabs 3 CAA officials over corruption
KARACHI: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four suspects including three key officials of Civil Aviation Authority over corruption of millions of rupees here on Thursday.
According to FIA spokesperson, Anti-Corruption Cell of FIA has arrested four accused including Air Commodore (r) Gulzar Ahmed Janjua, director Chief of Aviation Security then also president of CA Club, M Shakoor AbbasI Senior Joint Director Finance Disbursement, CA Headquarters and Treasurer CA Club, Karachi, Shaikh Mahboob, Assistant Director Electronic CA Headquarters/Senior Admin officer CA Club and M Raza, Chief Executive Officer of M/s AI–Mubarrak Caterers and Decorators, Karachi.
He said accused Air Commodore (r) Gulzar Ahmed Janjua plotted an ill scheme by calling quotations from the selected caterers on July 28, 2011, abusing his official position.
The accused persons namely M Shakoor Abbasi and Sheikh Mahboob had awarded the land of CA Club to M/s AI–Mubarrak Caterers and Decorators for five years for annual subscription of Rs1,800.
0001 per annum with an increase of 10 percent per annum whereas M/s World Catering Services offered annual subscription of Rs4,800,0001 with an increase of 10 percent per annum.
In this manner, a wrongful loss of Rs1.
83 million (approx) was caused to public exchequer and corresponding wrongful gain of millions of rupees was provided to M/s AI-Mubarrak Caterers and Decorators.
