SWABI: Former independent MPA Sardar Ali from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was sentenced to three-year imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 by a local court here on Saturday for giving false information about his BA degree. Sardar Ali, an independent candidate, defeated Abdul Karim Khan of Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao, now named as Qaumi Watan Party, in the 2008 general elections from PK-34 Swabi-1V.
ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission (HEC) has sent the list of 54 former lawmakers holding fake degrees to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Geo News reported Saturday.

KARACHI: Following the orders of Supreme Court, police conducted raids for the arrest of the culprits who were involved in the murder of Arshad Pappu in Lyari, here on Friday. Police conducted raids in various part of Lyari including Aath Chowk, Phool Patti Line, Dubai Chowk, Rangi Wara and Afshahani Gali and claimed to have arrested at least 18 suspects.

KARACHI: Rangers on Sunday claimed to have arrested leader of a banned militant outfit wanted for many terrorist activities, SAMAA reported. Qari Abdul Hai alias Asadullah, said to be former chief of Lashkar-e-Jhangwi’s Sindh chapter, was arrested by the law–enforcers from Karachi’s University Road this morning, Rangers spokesman said.
KARACHI: At least three people including gangster Arshad Pappu were killed in an overnight firing incident in the metropolis area of Lyari, SAMAA reported Sunday. According to police sources, the firing incident occurred in Lyari’s Mirza Adam Khan Road, where one of the deceased has been identified as Arshad alias Pappu. The other deceased is also being reported to be his brother, Arafat.
