Lakki Marwat: 26 suspects arrested

The security forces and police arrested 26 suspected persons during a search operation in the Afghan Refugees Camp in Gandi Khankhel on Friday, official sources said. The sources said that acting on a tip-off the security forces and police launched the search at 3am that continued till 12pm.

Karachi: ANF seizes 9.86 tonnes of hashish

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has said it successfully recovered 9.863 tonnes of hashish packed in 329 cartons, concealed with jean trousers, from a container at the Karachi International Container Terminal, Sea Port. An ANF spokesman said on Thursday the force received information that a group of smugglers would smuggle a huge quantity of narcotics, concealed in a container. On January 7 the suspected container entered the Karachi International Container Terminal, was immediately put on hold and kept under watch.

Police on Thursday claimed to have busted two gangs of vehicle snatchers and arrested its five members and recovered 16 cars and motorcycles. Sub divisional Police officer DSP Raja Taifoor Akhter while addressing press conference here at Taxila police station on Thursday said the vehicles were lifted from different parts of the city.

Karachi: Man jailed for seven years in graft case

An accountability court on Thursday sentenced a man to seven years imprisonment in a graft reference. The court found Sardaruddin Ganji guilty of defaulting on the financial facilities he had obtained from a private bank for import of palm oil in 1996. Judge Syed Kausar Ali Bukhari of the Accountability Court-II pronounced the verdict after recording the evidence and final arguments from both sides.

Lahore: Robber held after being injured in crossfire

A crossfire between robbers and a food outlet owner during a robbery bid left three people injured, including a robber, on Ferozpure Road in Ichhra early on Thursday. Businessman convicted in loan default case in Karachi

Lahore: Four agents of Double Shah arrested

The National Accountability Bureau Punjab on Thursday arrested four agents of Double Shah involved in the embezzlement of Rs 350 million public money. They are Akbar Bashir Hanjra (100m), Shahid Nawaz (70m), Abdul Sattar Sulehria (100m) and Amir Sohail (80m). The accused are holders of unknown properties of Double Shah. They will be produced before Accountability Court for remand tomorrow.

Rawalpindi: Police arrest 20 lawbreakers

The Rawalpindi Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested 20 law breakers and seized 19 liquor bottles, 3,085 grams Charras, one rifle 8mm, 115 grams heroin, one CNG kit and five 30-bore pistols with 10 rounds. Separate cases have been registered against the accused while investigations are underway.

A 40-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by his elder brother at his business in Dhobi Ghaat of Shafeeqabad on Thursday. The police took Arif Shafee into custody for killing his brother, Muhammad Asif. Shafeeqabad police said both brothers dealt in furniture business.

An 18-year-old housewife was allegedly poisoned to death by her in-laws in the Sandha police area on Thursday. Police have taken into custody Muhammad Sakhi, of Abu Bakar Siddique Colony, for interrogation. The police said that the couple tied knot some eight months back, but they often quarreled. “Some four days back, Sakhi tortured Salma and sent her to her parents in Kasur,” said a senior cop, adding that her parents somehow reunited the couple.

A man was shot dead, while a body was recovered on Thursday. Muhammad Qasim, 30, was killed when outlaws barged into his house and pumped bullets in his body while he was asleep. The incident occurred in the Katchi Abadi in the Korangi Industrial Area police precincts on Thursday.

A 44-year-old man allegedly gunned down his younger brother, father of one, over a property dispute in Shafiqabad police precincts on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Asif, of Dao Shala. According to investigators, two brothers, namely Arif and Asif, the sons of Muhammad Shafi, have been dealing in furniture business near Dhobi Ghaat. On Thursday, a servant, namely Hanif, working on the top of the furniture shop, hear a bullet fire and came down.

Karachi: Jobless man commits suicide

A jobless man, Javed, son of Akhter Ali, committed suicide after a quarrel with his parents in the PIB Colony police limits on Thursday. Police said the 25-year-old’s condition became critical after he consumed poison. He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died. His parents took his body home without an autopsy.

Two people allegedly shot injured a woman over a trivial issue in Satukatla police area on Thursday. Police said Zeeshan and Javed injured their neighbour Salma Bibi and fled the scene. “The woman has been shifted to a nearby hospital for her medical treatment where her condition is told to be stable,” the police said, adding an FIR has been lodged.
