The security forces and police arrested 26 suspected persons during a search operation in the Afghan Refugees Camp in Gandi Khankhel on Friday, official sources said. The sources said that acting on a tip-off the security forces and police launched the search at 3am that continued till 12pm.

A man was shot dead by his sons for secretly solemnising second marriage here on Thursday. Riaz and Waqas shot dead their father Nehar Gul when they found that he had a second wife. The incident occurred in Kashmiryan village. Police said that Sheema, the second wife of Nehar Gul, and her sister Iqbal Jehan, also sustained injuries.

The security forces claimed to have killed five militant commanders and cleared several areas from the insurgents in the ongoing military action in Jawakai and Darra Adamkhel in the Frontier Region (FR) Kohat. The official sources said on Thursday the security forces blitzed the militant hideouts in FR Darra Adamkhel and Jawakai and took control of their stronghold Tor Chappar area in Jawakai.

Arms smuggling bid foiled in Peshawar

The Chamkani police on Sunday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of ammunition and arrest a person. Police stopped a car on the Inqilab Road and recovered 46 pistols of different bores, seven rifles and over 7,000 of rounds from the vehicle. The ammunition was reportedly being transported to Punjab. The driver of the car was arrested.
