The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has said it successfully recovered 9.863 tonnes of hashish packed in 329 cartons, concealed with jean trousers, from a container at the Karachi International Container Terminal, Sea Port. An ANF spokesman said on Thursday the force received information that a group of smugglers would smuggle a huge quantity of narcotics, concealed in a container. On January 7 the suspected container entered the Karachi International Container Terminal, was immediately put on hold and kept under watch.

An accountability court on Thursday sentenced a man to seven years imprisonment in a graft reference. The court found Sardaruddin Ganji guilty of defaulting on the financial facilities he had obtained from a private bank for import of palm oil in 1996. Judge Syed Kausar Ali Bukhari of the Accountability Court-II pronounced the verdict after recording the evidence and final arguments from both sides.

At least four armed men entered a house situated in Mehran Town, Sector 6-F and sprayed bullets at Qasim, son of Faiz Mohammad, killing him on the spot. After committing the crime, they managed to flee from the scene. Body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
A scrap dealer, who was an eyewitness in an armed robbery case, was shot dead at his house in Korangi Industrial Area in the early hours of Thursday, police said. Four armed men entered Qasim Mohammad’s house, situated in Mehran Town Sector 6-F, and sprayed him with bullets before fleeing, said a duty officer at the Korangi Industrial Area police station.
The Sindh High Court disposed of a petition of a farmer against police harassment as the police informed the court that the petitioner’s relatives were involved in some criminal cases. The court was hearing the petition of Nazeer Ahmed, who had sought protection against police harassment.
