OKARA: A dacoit was killed while a constable sustained injuries in an encounter on Okara–Faisalabad highway, some 20kms from here, late on Sunday night. Reports said that an anti–car lifting squad (ACLS) of Islamabad police was on its way to Okara by a private car when five robbers stopped them near Dhuta bridge. On offering resistance, the robbers opened fire on them which was returned.
RAWALPINDI: The Daily Times reported on Thursday, Westridge Police on Wednesday busted two gangs of car lifters, motorcycle lifters, apprehended six gangsters and recovered five cars, three motorcycles from their possession, City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Fakhar Sultan Raja said. The gang leader of car lifters Rizwan Michael, his two fellow gangsters including Ibadat Hussain, Karim Bakhsh have been apprehended while their two more accomplices made good their escape. A police raiding party has been sent to apprehend the culprits. Later the CPO handed over five keys of cars to their real owners here at Westridge Police Station. Addressing on the occasion the CPO appreciated the performance of police team and announced conferring certificates and cash prizes to them. The six members anti car lifting squad of Westridge police has so far recovered 27 cars, five motorcycles, one Jeep, one rickshaw worth over Rs. 20 million from January to September 2010. The culprits used to take a round of the entire city for locating Corolla XE models from 1995 to 2000 and lift it with the help of master key. The lifters concealed the lifted cars immediately in a rented house. They changed the appearance of the lifted car through a person Javed Khan. The apprehended gangsters have revealed that they failed to arrange fake documents for selling the lifted cars. A three-member motorcycle lifting gang has also been apprehended by the aforementioned anti car lifting cell. The arrested members include Majid Ali gang head, while Asghar Hayat and Mohammad Rizwan are its members. Three motorcycles have also been recovered from their possession.
ISLAMABAD: Over 185 vehicles have been stolen from different parts of the capital city in the last three months despite tall claims of police that extraordinary security arrangements have been made across the town. Majority of the cars are lifted from the urban areas located in the limits of Margalla, Kohsar, Shalimar and I-9 Industrial Area police stations, a senior police official confided to Daily Times on Saturday. On average, two cars are daily stolen from Islamabad, he said.

KARACHI: The Anti-Car Lifting Unit (ACLU) police arrested three members of a professional countrywide vehicle theft group and recovered eleven vehicles from their possession, including the vehicle of Muttahida Qaumi Movement MNA Haider Abbas Rizvi.
