QUETTA: A journalist and an official of the provincial information department were injured in an armed attack in Turbat town on Sunday, sources said.
QUETTA: According to the Dawn News, Driver Mohammad Sarwar, of Aaj TV was killed and seven media personnel were injured on Friday in a suicide attack on a procession organised by the Imamia Students Organisation in Meezan Chowk to mark the Al Quds day. The injured journalists are, cameramen Fateh Shakir (Dawn News), bureau chief Mustafa Tareen (ARY News), senior reporter Noor Elahi Bugti (Samaa TV), cameraman Ejaz Raisani (Samaa TV), reporter Irshad Mastoi (Express News), cameraman Shahid Mukhtar (Express News) and cameraman Imran Mukhtar (Geo News).
LAHORE: According to the Dawn News, on the petition filed by Muhammad Ashraf Gondal, secretary-general of Alfaizan Commission Trust, Chief justice Khwaja Sharif of the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the federal and provincial governments to fix transmission of all blocked news channels, Geo News, ARY and Aaj, and looked for replies from the information minister and the PEMRA chairman by Aug 19.
KARACHI: Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, told media on Friday that the Karachi Police have arrested at least 195 criminals for their alleged involvement in the recent wave of violence in the metropolis, the ARY News reported. “Eight to nine of the arrested persons are involved in target killings,” he said.

PESHAWAR: Pakistan has arrested a former Taliban spokesman released by Afghanistan in 2007 in exchange for a kidnapped Italian journalist, a US news agency reported Saturday citing local officials. An intelligence official says authorities detained Ustad Mohammed Yasir in Peshawar near the Afghan border. He says Yasir was Taliban leader Mullah Omar’s spokesman after the regime’s fall in Afghanistan in 2001, reported Associated Press (AP).
ISLAMABAD: Ten police men including Inspector of Aabpara Police station have been arrested on the charges of misappropriating in arms recovered from Lal Masjid after operation. The action was taken on the directives of Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik. The police has initiated further probe into the matter.
