MINGORA: An alleged militant was arrested in the Matta tehsil of the Swat district, an official said on Thursday. The official of the Matta Police Station Amjad Ali said the police arrested a militant identified as Sherzada during a raid.

KARACHI: An anti–terrorism court (ATC) remanded a suspected Lashkar–e-Jhangvi militant in police custody until July 31. Imran alias Amir was arrested after getting injured in a bomb blast inside a three–storey building in Patel Para on July 20.
KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) claimed to have arrested an alleged terrorist, involved in bomb blast at ANP’s corner meeting on April 26, besides nabbing 11 other suspects during a seperate targeted operation in Defence Housing Authority on Sunday. The blast at ANP’s meeting had claimed at least 11 lives and wounded 45 others including women and children. Mominabad police station SHO Aurangzaib Khattak said a raid was conducted at Mehsud’s hideout in Pakhtunabad area of Manghopir where the blast accused was arrested after an exchange of fire.
QUETTA: The Frontier Constabulary on Thursday claimed to have seized a huge cache of explosives, including remote–controlled bombs and detonators, during a search action in Nushki. FC spokesman said the troops conducted raids on suspected hideouts of criminal elements in Nushki district and recovered 28 remote controlled bombs, 112 detonators, 117 bags of potassium and six sets of walkie-`talkies.
KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested four suspected militants of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi during overnight raids in the city. Sindh police chief Fayyaz Leghari told a press conference that a list of targets had also been recovered from the four suspects, who were identified as Saifur Rehman, Abdul Ghani, Zubair and Mohammad Gul. He said that the suspects had completed the surveillance of their potential targets.
MANSEHRA: Police on Friday arrested the heads of four families in Mansehra city and its suburbs for renting houses despite a ban. The arrests were made a week after district coordination officer Dr Amber Ali Khan banned the renting out of houses to non-locals and Afghan refugees. The arrested men were Naeem Gul of Akora Khattak, Bacha Khan of Kabul in Afghanistan, Mewa Khan of Khairabad and Ghulam Khan of Paktia in Afghanistan. A source in police said the four people would be sent to their respective areas along with their families if they were not found involved in any illegal activity.
LAHORE: The police have launched a search operation in the wake of the bomb blasts in vegetable market and arrested 55 suspects from the different areas for investigation. Security has been beefed up at all sensitive places including mosques, Imambargahs and government offices in the city. Police officials in civvies have also been deputed at bus stands, railway station and other crowded areas.
KARACHI: At least 1,257 people, including 135 political activists, have been killed in different parts of the city since the beginning of the year, stated a Human Rights Commission of Pakistan report released here on Wednesday. Of the victims, 27 were shot dead in sectarian attacks, 84 in Lyari gang warfare, 42 in armed robberies, eight in bomb blasts and 11 on the pretext of honour, it added. The number of killings during the six months has increased this year, as last year a total of 1,138 people were killed during the corresponding period.
