HYDERABAD: Police recovered a man from the captivity of his kidnappers in the early hours of Thursday morning. A police spokesman said that Shahryar had been kidnapped by four armed men in Qazi Ahmed Bypass on January 24.
HYDERABAD: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hyderabad Region Naeem Akhtar Baroka has said the police had arrested 40 suspects in raids in nine districts of Hyderabad division in connection with Tuesday’s cracker attacks and firing which left three people dead and over half a dozen injured.
HYDERABAD: Police seized 30 kilogramme of explosive material concealed in three cemented blocks, three mobile–phone sets, a wireless radio and a sizable quantity of nails and ball bearings after a raid on a house in Zeal Pak Colony in the limits of SITE police station on Wednesday.
HYDERABAD: Police and law enforcement agencies arrested three alleged terrorists of proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an action in Hyderabad, Geo News reported. Police claimed to have foiled the terror bid prior to forthcoming elections, seizing 30 kilograms of explosives and suicide jackets from accused possession. The explosive material was planted in three blocks of 10 kg each.
HYDERABAD: A total of 1,179 candidates have been caught cheating since the beginning of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) parts I and II on April 8, according to a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Hyderabad, report. Talking to Dawn, BISE chairman Prof Eng Abdul Aleem Khanzada attributed the high number of cheating cases to gaps in security arrangement, interrupted power supply and incompetence of a few invigilators.
HYDERABAD: A total of 704 students had been caught using unfair means till Monday in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-I and II examinations since the exams began on April 9, reported monitoring teams of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Hyderabad. The huge number included 206 cases of copying and 49 cases of impersonating another student, the teams reported to BISE chairman Prof Eng Abdul Aleem Khanzada at a meeting held here on Monday.
HYDERABAD: Police have arrested an influential person and lodged case against him for torturing a 12–year–old boy in Tando Muhamamd Khan, Geo News reported. Police said an influential person stripped boy naked and tortured him on suspicion that he had stolen a mobile phone. A movie of that was also recorded. It clearly showed torture on the boy. Police have arrested the man and lodged case against him.
HYDERABAD: Police on Tuesday sought permission from the registrar of the Sindh High Court to file a charge–sheet in court against Mohammad Saleem Qambrani, the senior civil judge of Jacobabad, in the couple murder case. Ishtiaq Sheikh and his wife Samia Detho were killed allegedly by the woman’s father, brother and their associates after the couple got married of their freewill. Earlier in the day, Mr Qambrani gave his statement to the investigation officer of the couple murder case under Section 161 of the criminal procedure code in the presence of the additional registrar of the SHC. The Hyderabad SSP wrote a letter (No.PB/18076-83) dated Nov 13 to the SHC registrar to seek permission to file the charge-sheet against the judge before an anti–terrorism court.
