KARACHI: More than 600 slaughtered water birds, locally known as Aarri (Coots), were confiscated and nine persons involved in their illegal trade were caught during a raid conducted by Sindh Wildlife Department staff in Golarchi tehsil of Badin district on Thursday. The wildlife department team, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a vehicle carrying coots with number plate KS-4622 at Golarchi road, coming from Zero point and bound for Dadu district, Aijaz Ahmed, Wildlife inspector told PPI on phone from Golarchi.

The wildlife department, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a vehicle carrying the Coots on Golarchi Road, coming from Zero point and bound for Dadu district, Aijaz Ahmed, Wildlife Inspector, told PPI on phone from Golarchi. He said they recovered 610 culled water birds from the vehicle and nabbed nine persons including Darya Khan, Rasool Buksh, Ghulam Shabeer, Muhammd Ashraf, Ghulam Ali, Abdul Hammed, Muhammad Ilyas, Adam Ali, and driver Ghulam Husain Jat. He said Coots are protected under Sections 7/17/22/23/33-A of Sindh Wildlife Protection Ordinance.
RAWALPINDI: A team of the district health department with the collaboration of police sealed a factory at Hazara Colony, which was preparing, packing and selling fake brands of renowned cold drinks. The team confiscated as many as 795 cartons, each containing six bottles of one-and-a-half litres of fake cold drinks. Tehsil Food Inspector Shahid Mehmood and his team along with police, including SHO Syed Asghar Shah of the Ratta Amral Police Station, conducted a raid on House no. 665-B, Street 3, Hazara Colony, where the factory was operating.

KARACHI, Jan 7: Sindh wildlife staffers raided a shop in Saddar, recovered various stuffed endangered animals protected under the Sindh Wildlife Protection Ordinance, 1972 and arrested a man running the shop on Friday.
KARACHI: The Sindh Wildlife Department has booked two members of the national assembly belonging to the ruling Pakistan People`s Party for poaching partridges in a protected area. The SWD representative in Sukkur, Taj Mohammad Sheikh, confirmed to Dawn the partridges poaching incident and said that a case had been registered against the two MNAs. He said that the two MNAs, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah from Nawabshah and Mir Amir Magsi from Shahdad Kot, along with their two guests, whose names could not be ascertained immediately, had been invited by Khalid Rajpar, a resident of RD 463 Nara.
RAWALPINDI: A team of district health department along with police and officials of Sihala Slaughter House seized some 800–kg unhygienic meat at Pirwahdai Bus Terminal and held vehicle driver and cleaner here on Saturday. A case has also been registered against two butchers under section 269, 270 & 278 of CRPC and Local Government Ordinance 2001 section 141 (17 & 18) for supplying unhygienic meat and store in unhygienic condition. According to an official of DHD, the water filled meat, was brought from Bhakar, was being supplied in the market to sale out to the consumers.
RAWALPINDI: A special anti-corruption court here on Wednesday granted bail to former federal minister for minorities Mushtaq Victor in a human smuggling case. The judge, Shaukat Ali Sajid directed the accused to submit two surety bonds of Rs500,000 each after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) failed to satisfy the court on a point raised by the defence lawyer that why no one had claimed the former minister extorted money from him.
